COMPETITION TEAM

BY AUDITION ONLY | AGES 8+

JAZZ | HIP HOP | CONTEMPORARY
NOVICE • INTERMEDIATE • ELITE

The Dance Pointe Competition Team is for dedicated dancers who are ready to commit to training, performance, growth, and teamwork.

Competition Team is a separate commitment from regular class enrollment and is BY AUDITION ONLY. (Auditions take place in the Spring for the following season)

Dancers choose which genres to audition for: Jazz, Hip Hop, and/or Contemporary. Register for each genre in which you would like to be considered, and review the requirements below before signing up.

Auditioning does not guarantee placement. Faculty determine each dancer’s level and casting.

WHO CAN AUDITION?

For each genre selected, dancers must:

  • Have at least two years of training and experience in that style.

  • Be taking, or have taken, that style at The Dance Pointe during the current or immediately prior season.

  • Be able to meet all training, rehearsal, and competition commitments.

For example, a dancer auditioning for both Jazz and Hip Hop must meet the prerequisites for both styles.

TRAINING & REHEARSAL REQUIREMENTS

All team members must commit to:

  • At least two technique classes per week at The Dance Pointe.

  • Friday and/or Saturday rehearsals, September–December.

  • One weekday rehearsal, September–April, scheduled after placement.

  • Late-August pre-season rehearsals for Intermediate and Elite dancers.

Competition choreography moves quickly. Dancers must demonstrate focus, accountability, consistent attendance, and a strong team attitude.

SEASON COMMITMENT

The team attends three regional competitions each season. Attendance at all three is mandatory.

By accepting placement, families commit to all scheduled rehearsals, choreography sessions, competitions, and team events.

Please keep entire competition weekends available. Performance schedules are assigned by competition organizers; we cannot accommodate individual scheduling requests.

Rehearsal dates are a firm commitment. Missed rehearsals affect the entire group and may result in removal from part or all of a routine. Please review your availability carefully before accepting placement.

PLACEMENT & ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Faculty determine levels and casting based on technical ability, readiness, work ethic, maturity, performance quality, and overall team fit.

Acro routines are cast at faculty discretion, based on strength, flexibility, technical readiness, safety, and team needs.

Solos, duets, and trios are by invitation only. Selection considers readiness, reliability, work ethic, team attitude, performance quality, and teacher recommendation. Additional opportunities are determined solely by faculty and are never guaranteed.
