Participation in either of our performing companies is by invitation only and based upon a dancer's ability as well as dedication to the art of dance, commitment and respect for others in the dance studio. Our performing companies perform throughout the year locally, with senior company dancers having the opportunity to dance overseas during the summers vacation.

The Dance Pointe believes that being involved in company, develops positive self esteem, confidence, accountability, and leadership in young dancers. We are dedicated to creating young artists and proficient dancers. We build our companies as a family and create bonds that last far beyond the studio years.

Being a member of senior and junior company is a full year commitment.  In order for our companies to be successful, it is important that we have the entire group to work with as much as possible.

COMPANY INFORMATION & POLICIES

ATTENDANCE POLICY:

 A dancer may have 2 unexcused absences from September—May. Additional missed classes must be made up with a private lesson at cost of the dancer. 
       *Excused absences include but are not limited to illness with a medical excuse and school events required for a grade.
If a dancer will be absent from class or rehearsal, simply send us an email with the reason for absence, in advance to let us know.
       *A private lesson cannot replace the importance of a full cast rehearsal. If a dancer has a lot of unexcused absences and does not have an acceptable knowledge of the routine, the dancer will not be able to take part in the upcoming performance. 
       *Dancers cannot miss the rehearsal directly before performance. Doing so will result in her inability to or perform.

Transportation to and from performances is the responsibility of the dancer's family. We encourage carpooling!

Parent Involvement
We encourage parents to be involved in our studio and attend performances. It is the parent’s responsibility to know what’s going on at the studio. Please check your email and our website regularly.  We also encourage parents to coordinate with other dancers parents to form car pools and plan fun events for their daughter's team.

Fundraising
Any parents that are interested in organizing fundraisers to offset uniform and competition/performance expenses, please see the office. 

Communication
Please be aware that all communication is done via email (practice changes or cancellations, competition times, waiver, announcements, etc.). Please make sure to check your email and our website regularly for reminders, updates, etc. 

COMPANY AMBASSADORS | EUROPEAN TOUR

COMPANY AMBASSADORS is an incredibly unique summer dance opportunity. Students dedicated to the art of dance and performance are invited by The Dance Pointe to travel to Germany and Switzerland where they participate in an intensive dance training program and perform at local venues, generating revenue donated to a local children’s hospital. This bi-annual program offers the experience of European culture, language, arts, dance and friendships that last far beyond the studio walls. This program has been developed by Melissa Truelove and is based upon her own experience as a professional dancer in Germany and the decades worth of summers spent performing overseas as a young adult with the Greenwich Ballet Workshop under the tutelage of Felicity Foote. Truelove has been traveling as a dancer to Germany since 1990 and began taking dancers herself in 2009.
