CLASS OF 2023
CIELLA ANGEL-LALANNE
Started dancing at The Dance Pointe: 2012
Favorite Memory: Over the years I have had the opportunity to attend many masterclasses and I always remember the class in New York we did before doing “The Lion King.” This class really pushed me out of my comfort zone, and experimenting with new styles of dance with my friends really brought us closer together.
Advice for upcoming dancers: Try to view dance a positive outlet for stress - this can remind you of why dance can be so therapeutic and powerful. Also always come to class with an intention to learn.
School/Major: University of Pennsylvania / Political Science & Linguistics
LUCY BALANOFF
Started dancing at The Dance Pointe: 2013
Favorite Memory: My favorite memory is finding out that Aubrey and I were going to be Moana and Maui. We were surrounding by every Dance Pointe company member and staff. We had just finished White Elephant and I opened the last present, a letter that announced the 2023 recital theme. Aubrey and I read our roles for the show and ran to the center of the circle screaming. We were so happy for ourselves and each other. I could not imagine another way of finding out the incredible news alongside my best friends.
Advice for upcoming dancers: My advice for future dancers is to never doubt yourself and have confidence in your abilities. Trying and accomplishing a new trick, move, or pose can only be successful when you believe in yourself and have people around who you know will be supportive no matter what. Never hesitate to reach out for help to a teacher or fellow dancer because chances are, they will always know the right thing to say or do. And finally, don’t be afraid to add a little touch of your personality to each piece because it makes every performance that much more exciting.

AUBREY BYRNE
Started dancing at The Dance Pointe: 2009
Favorite Memory: My favorite memory at The Dance Pointe was being able to dance alongside my sister for multiple years. Not only did I get to experience my first year of Junior Company with her, but I also got to spend my first two years of Senior Company with her by my side. It was truly rewarding to have someone to look up to and help me better myself throughout most of my dance career. I got to watch her perform and work hard in classes which always motivated me to become a better person and dancer.
Advice for upcoming dancers: My advice to upcoming dancers is to never let those around you stop you from doing something you love. There are always going to be people who may bring you down, but it is up to you to continue to work your hardest and improve within yourself. Dance is such an amazing outlet to express yourself… use it!
