PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS: All classes are based upon full year enrollment. (Sept.-June)
TINY TOTS: ages 2-3 (Jan start) Tiny Tots is a great introduction to dance studio life. Our classes are based on classical ballet terminology while incorporating musical rhythms, coordination exercises and dance games. Our "Tiny Tots" classes allow children to take once a week throughout the year without the pressure of participating in the end of year performance.
MINI MOVERS: ages 3-4 :This class is designed for our youngest dancers who want to express their independence without the assistance of mom or dad. Dancers will have fun learning pre-ballet movement and terminology to both classical and popular children's music. Class sizes are kept small to ensure individual attention.
STEP UP & CREATIVE MOVERS: Ballet/Jazz/Hip Hop: ages 5-6:Young dancers will enjoy this class built on basic movements learned in the Mini Movers class but is still appropriate for first-time dancers. The Ballet portion of class will introduce ballet barre and more challenging steps. Jazz class introduces proper warm-ups and stretches for the bodyand mini combinations. The Hip Hop portion of the class will concentrate on building confidence through mastering more difficult patterns and steps.
BALLET/JAZZ COMBO: ages 6-7: This Ballet/Jazz class focuses on getting students ready to transition from combination type classes to full hour classes in a specific style of dance. Ballet class will include more challenging exercises while emphasizing basic terminology. The Jazz portion will concentrate on developing intricate patterns and rhythms, while developing the student's flexibility and balance skills.
HIP HOP: ages 6-7: In this class students will learn the fundamentals of Hip Hop. This class will encourage students to dance outside of the box and bring their own personality to each movement. Music choices are always age appropriate.
BALLET: All levels: Students will learn classical ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations. The ballet curriculum is based on a combination of the French, Vagonova and Cecchetti methods.
JAZZ: All levels: Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary to help develop a well rounded dancer. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement.
TAP: All levels: Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun.
HIP HOP: 8+:Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements.
JAZZ FUNK: All Levels: Jazz Funk contains a blend of several styles of hip hop, popular dance and jazz. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina to successfully perform moves.
MODERN/CONTEMPORARY: This class class is designed for intermediate to advanced students with previous training in ballet. With movement taken from both ballet and jazz teachniques, it emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract.
ACRO: 8+Learn the basics or work on advancing your skills in this flexible Acro class! This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching such skills as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, etc.
LEVEL CLASS DESCRIPTIONS :
LEVEL CLASSES ARE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS AGE 8 – 18 YEARS OF AGE. PLACEMENT IS BASED FIRST ON A STUDENT'S ABILITY TO RETAIN AND EXECUTE THE REQUIRED SKILLS FOR EACH LEVEL AND THEN ON AGE. A STUDENT'S ABILITY TO PROGRESS SUCCESSFULLY IS BASED ON ATTENDANCE, AS WELL AS THE ABILITY TO RETAIN AND COMPREHEND TECHNICAL TERMS AND MOVEMENT REQUIREMENTS. PLEASE BE ADVISED CLASSES MARKED WITH AN (*) ON OUR CURRENT SCHEDULE HAVE PREREQUISITES.
